What is S Valve Concrete Pump

In concrete pump function systems, concrete distribution system is a crucial part. In order to pump concrete materials continuously, in pumping process, the two piston connecting rods in the twin concrete cylinders designed side by side, driven by hydraulic system, will suck and push concrete alternately.

This means that the two concrete cylinders connected to hydraulic cylinders should also alternately connect to the concrete hopper and output port of the pump body:

1.In the forward pumping process, when the distribution valve connects one concrete cylinder with the hopper, concrete in the hopper is sucked into the concrete cylinder by the hydraulic piston rod in this hydraulic cylinder; Meanwhile the distribution valve connects the other concrete cylinder with the output port, concrete material is pushed out of the concrete cylinder and into the conveying pipeline by the other hydraulic piston rod, to realize pumping concrete finally.

2.In the reverse pumping process, when the distribution valve connects one concrete cylinder with the output port, concrete material in the conveying pipeline is sucked into the concrete cylinder; Meanwhile distribution valve connects another concrete cylinder with the hopper, material in the cylinder is pushed into the hopper. In this way, reverse pumping is realized.

In order to fulfill the whole pumping process, all sorts of distribution methods are invented and applied in concrete pump systems. Among them, S valve is the most widely used one.

S Valve Used in Concrete Pump

The valve body of the s-tube valve presents the shape of letter s. It is mainly composed of discharge port, large bearing seat, seal, s tube, small bearing seat, as well as special-shaped nut, transition sleeve, spectacle plate, cutting ring, rubber spring and other parts. S valve directly affects pumping performance of concrete pumps.

The tube body of s valve is divided into two types: variable diameter type and constant diameter type.

The discharge port of the s valve is fixed on the output port of the hopper through the large bearing seat, and the other port is fixed above the outlets of the two concrete cylinders through the small bearing seat. Driven by the hydraulic device, the port of the s valve can swing left and right to connect the two concrete cylinders alternately.

S-tube valves have become the general distribution valve solution in concrete pumps, and are widely used in various pumping equipment such as mortar pumps, trailer pumps, mixing pumps and boom pump trucks.

One of the most important reasons on why s-valve concrete pumps are so popular is the unique advantage of S valve: the floating and self sealing characteristics of the cutting ring.

The floating nature of the cutting ring means that there is no axial fixing device on the s valve, and it can move freely; the self sealing means that the high-press concrete will press on a designed ring surface, so that the cutting ring and the spectacle plate are tightly attached.

Floating and clinging can make the cutting ring automatically compensate the gap under the high pressure of concrete after the glasses plate and cutting ring are worn, so as to ensure a tight fit with the glasses plate, thereby ensuring good sealing performance. That is to say, the higher the concrete pressure, the better the sealing performance will be.

Due to the good self sealing of the s valve , there is relatively less wear on the cutting ring and other parts, and the service life is longer.

Gate Valve

Gate valve is mainly used in concrete pump trailer systems. According to different structures, gate valve is also divided into two types: inclined gate valve and flat gate valve.

Advantages of Gate Valve

1.The moving direction of gate valve is vertical or nearly vertical to the flowing direction of the concrete material, so gate valve has strong shearing capacity and can pump concrete with low slump.
2.Gate valve is set under the hopper, which avoid concrete segregation, with good suction performance.

Disadvantages of Gate Valve

1.Gate valve has poor sealing performance and is not suitable for high-pressure and long-distance pumping of concrete.
2.Since gate valve has two discharge holes, a Y-shaped pipe must be installed, which has poor conveying performance and is easy to block.
3.The gate is easily stuck, resulting in failure to seal and poor material absorption.

C Valve

C valve is also known as elephant trunk valve, mainly used in concrete pump truck systems. It is one of the leading technologies of early Portzmeister in concrete machinery.

Advantages

1.Long service life. Since the mechanism that controls the swing of the c-valve is located above the hopper, which is not easily corroded by concrete.
2.Good sealing performance. Adopting design of spectacle plate and cutting ring, the gap between the cutting ring and the spectacle plate is controlled by rubber spring in the cutting ring.
3.Easy to assemble and disassemble.

Disadvantages

Since the radius of the lower bend of C valve is small, the resistance of the concrete in the pipe is large, which easily leads to swing difficulty of C valve.

Skirt valve is a patented product designed and developed by Schwing in 1982, mainly used in concrete boom pump trucks and truck mounted line concrete pumps.

Advantages:
1.Good internal fluidity due to big inner diameter, big outlet and no bending part.

Disadvantages:
1.Skirt valve is large in size, so it takes up large space in the hopper.
2.Swing inside the hopper, skirt valve is easy to resistance from the hopper concrete.
