Before introducing the asphalt batching plant, you need to know what is an asphalt mixing plant? For industry veterans who know the asphalt plants well, it’s a piece of cake. As it’s known to us that the asphalt mixing plant is divided into two types: asphalt batching plant (batch type asphalt mixing plant) and continuous asphalt mixing plant. Let’s reveal the answer.
Asphalt Mixing Plant
The asphalt mixing plant, also named asphalt concrete mixing plant, refers to the whole set of equipment which is used for the quantity production of asphalt concrete. It can produce asphalt mixture, modified asphalt mixture and colored asphalt mixture, besides, the asphalt mixing plant is the essential equipment of these construction projects such as motorway, classified highway, municipal service road, airport and harbor.
What is a Hot Mix Plant
A hot mix plant, also named asphalt plant or asphalt mixing plant is designed to mix aggregates of different particle size and fillers(mineral powders) according to a certain proportion to produce the asphalt mixture with the effect of binder(asphalt or residual oil) at a specified temperature. The asphalt mixture is widely applied to the pavement of motorways, urban roads, grade highways, airports and ports.
Asphalt Batching Plant
Definition
An asphalt batching plant refers to the plant that the production of asphalt mixture is carried out batch by batch. The production of mixture in asphalt batching plant is generally based on the accurate measurement of each component (gravel, sand, stone powder, asphalt, etc.) in proportion, batch feeding and forced mixing, the production of the asphalt batch mix plant can summarize in this way: measurement in batches–feeding in bitches–forced mix in batches–discharging in batches.
Working Process
First, the central control room sends the start-up signal. After receiving the relevant signal, the cold aggregate in the cold bin will be transported to the dryer drum for drying through the belt conveyor. After that, it will be transported to the vibrating screen for screening through the hot material elevator.
The screened materials are transported to different compartment of hot material bin, then the weight value of the aggregate at each compartment is weighed by electronic scales, next put into the mixing tank. Last, the hot asphalt is weighed and sprayed into the mixing cylinder.
All various mixtures in the mixing tank are fully mixed to finally form finished materials, which are transported to the bucket. The bucket is transported through the track to unload the finished materials into the storage bin, then they are discharged into the transport truck through the unloading gate.
Features
1. High Grading Accuracy
The secondary measurement and screening of the asphalt batching plant in the production procedure ensure the scientificity and accuracy of grading. Of course, it is also necessary to improve the accuracy of aggregate and asphalt in proportion. At present, the accuracy of most aggregates is more than 5%, among which the asphalt measurement accuracy of 0.3% can reach the ideal standard.
High Grading Accuracy
2. High Finished Material Quality
The aggregate gradation and asphalt aggregate ratio can be changed at any time as required, so the asphalt mixture is of high quality and can meet various construction requirements.
3. Large Consumption
There may exist a serious heat loss phenomenon during aggregate transportation and treatment. On the existing basis, in order to reduce the heat loss, it is necessary to make the stone humidity about 10-15 degrees higher than that of the asphalt mixture, promoting the fuel consumption.
Continuous Asphalt Mixing Plant
Definition
The production process of the asphalt mixture is that each component (gravel, sand, stone powder, asphalt, etc.) is continuously and dynamically measured in proportion, and continuously fed and drum drop mixed.
Production Process
Advantages
1. Less Pollution
Due to the flame co-current drying and heating mode of cold aggregate, in the production process, the amount of dust is greatly reduced, so the pollution is small.
2. Low-energy Consumption
The total installed power is small, and a small amount of raw materials entering the mixer evenly makes the mixing amount at the same time section small, thus the energy consumption is decreased.
3. Low Maintenance Cost
The continuous asphalt mixing plant is featured by few structural links, short belt and stable operation, so the maintenance cost is low.
Asphalt Batching
Asphalt batching is the process of combining the asphalt with other fillers, which can be summarized in asphalt-aggregate ratio or oil stone ratio.
Asphalt aggregate ratio refers to the percentage of asphalt to mineral aggregate mass ratio in asphalt concrete. These materials of different quality and quantity are mixed to form different structures and have different mechanical properties. It is one of the indicators of asphalt dosage. Its dosage directly affects the pavement quality.
If the asphalt aggregate ratio is large, the pavement is easy to be oily, otherwise, it will affect the strength and waterproof effect. Generally, the oil stone ratio of SMA (stone mastic asphalt) is about 5.5%~5.6%, and that of SAC (stone asphalt concrete) is about 4.5%~6.01%.
Asphalt Concrete
The asphalt concrete is the asphalt mixture that the aggregates(sand, stone) in different particle sizes, binders(asphalt or residual oil) and fillers(mineral powder) are mixed according to special proportion.
