Dry Concrete Batching Plant
A dry concrete batching plant is also known as a transit mix concrete plant because the process of mixing material takes place or is completed in the mixer tank during transit. This plant does not include the mixing machine, so all of the raw ingredients including cement, sand, and gravel required to produce concrete are weighed according to the preset proportion and discharged directly into the concrete mixer truck.
As the dry concrete batching plant does not include a mixer, they can overcome some inherent limitations that the wet mix concrete batching plant has, which is not only suitable for the working conditions of the wet mix concrete batching plant, but also for extreme weather conditions such as high temperature, high heat, high altitude as well as long transportation distance.
How Much Does A Dry Batch Concrete Plant Cost?
The price range of dry batch concrete stations starts from $15000 to $28000. Dry concrete batching plant do not have a fixed price. The equipment does not have a main mixing machine, so it is cheaper than the wet mixing station.
The price of the dry concrete batching plant depends on its configuration, machinery, size, and model selected, and on customer specifications. Optional configurations include:
- Number of cement silos
- Size of batching machine
- Belt conveyor
- Hopper conveyor
- Dust removal mode

Components Of Dry Concrete Batching Plant
The dry concrete batching plant has the same system as that of a wet concrete mixing station, except that there is no main mixing machine. The main components of a dry mix concrete batching plant are:
- Aggregate supplying machine
- Batching system
- Weighing system
- Conveying system
- Storage system
- Control system
- De-dust system
- Steel frame, etc
How Does A Dry Concrete Batch Plant Work?
Based on the customer requirement, budget, and anticipated demand for the concrete, the customer can choose the batch mixing plant. Both the dry plant and wet plant have the same components, except that the dry batching plant does not have a mixer.
The operation procedure of the fully automatic concrete mixing station (as an example) is as follows:
- The aggregate (sand and stone) is unloaded into the batching machine by the loader.
- The batching machine then weighs the aggregate and batches them according to the set proportion.
- Once weighed, the aggregate is conveyed to the storage hopper through the conveyor belt or hopper.
- At the same time, cement, water and the additive are conveyed to a storage hopper through their respective weighing and conveying systems.
- The mixture is then discharged from the storage hopper to the concrete truck tanker.

Advantages of Dry Mix Concrete Plant
Dry mix concrete plants are the ideal choice in situations where the construction site is far from the concrete production unit. Since the concrete is produced in the mixer truck during transit, the operator is in control of the concrete preparation process.
The operator keeps the concrete in rotation to prevent tampering, hardening of the mixed concrete, and to ensure freshness of the concrete. It is also suitable for construction projects in remote and sparsely populated areas.
Some of the benefits of a dry mixing concrete plant are:
- The dry concrete batching plant cost is more economical. Since the dry mix concrete plant has no mixing machine, it is lower in cost than standard ready mix concrete plants.
- Low investment – high return. As it does not need a mixing machine, the investment is lower, yet the returns are high. Also, all parts are standardized, so it is easy for adding a mixing machine if required.
- High efficiency and energy saving. Due to the absence of the mixing machine, it saves time and electricity consumption.
- It has a continuous and highly efficient belt feeding system.
- The simpler structure of the equipment makes it easier and convenient for maintenance.
- Since there is no mixing machine, no daily cleaning of mixing machine required – thus saving time and increase in productivity.
- Production capacity of the dry plant is much higher than that of the wet concrete batching plant.
What Projects Need Dry Batch Concrete Plant?
A dry batch concrete plant for sale is suitable for the following situations:
- Long-distance transportation of concrete
- Construction period is short
- Involves frequent transfer projects
A dry concrete batching plant is especially suitable for investors with limited capital investment capacity; because there is no need for mixing mainframe and the equipment cost is not that high.
Since the dry mixing station does not have a mixing machine, all the mixing is carried out in the mixer tank of the truck. All other configurations are the same as those of the conventional concrete mixing stations.
Because of this, the configuration of the mixing host can be altered as required at a later stage when the production scale increases.
Dry Concrete Batching Plant VS. Wet Batch Concrete Plant
One of the main differences between the wet mix plant and a dry mix plant is the consistency of the concrete produced.
- The wet mixing plant has a central mixer which offers a more consistent mix quality. The dry mixing plant usually sees more break strength standard deviation and also variations from load to load due to inconsistencies in the duration of mixing, the condition of mixing blade and drum of the truck, traffic conditions during transport, etc.
- Dry mixing plants do not have a mixing machine and mixing takes place during transit. Whereas, in a wet mixing plant, the mixing takes place in the main mixing machine of the central plant.
- Wet mixing can be done in a short period, generally 60s, and offers consistent mixture. Dry mixers take a longer period to produce the desired concrete.
- In a central wet mix plant, all the batches undergo the same mixing action and also undergo the quality control process before loading to the transport trucks. The quality control process is not possible in dry mix plants as the mixing process takes place during transit.
- Wet mixing station is suitable for projects with high concrete quality requirements or commercial concrete mixing plants. On the other hand, the dry concrete mixing station is suitable for projects that do not have strict requirements for concrete quality standards and require long-distance transportation.
