Tar Batching/Intermittent Plant
Definition
The tar batching plant is the plant that the heating and drying of cold aggregate and the mixing of mixture are forced to be carried out periodically. The process characteristics of batch mixing plant are: various materials are put into the mixer for mixing after being measured in batches. A batch of mixed finished materials is discharged out of the mixer, and the mixing of the next batch of ingredients is then carried out, thus forming a cycle operation process.
Working Principle
First aggregates in different particle size in cold aggregate bin are conveyed to the rotary dryer drum through the belt conveyor and the extra moisture in the surface of aggregates is removed in the rotary dryer drum. Then dried aggregates are lifted to the vibrating screen where aggregates of different size are sieved, and the sieved aggregates drop the separate compartments for accurate measurement before mixing.
Besides, the screened aggregates are stored in the temporary hot storage bin. Next, aggregates are distributed into weighing hopper according to specified proportion. Later weighed aggregates enter the mixer, meanwhile fillers and liquid bitumen also are transported into mixer for mixing process. Finally the gate of mixer opens at the end of one production cycle and asphalt mix is discharged into the carrier vehicle or temporary storage silo.
Advantages
The tar batching/intermittent mixing equipment can ensure the gradation of aggregate, and the proportion of aggregate to asphalt can reach a fairly accurate level.
The aggregate gradation and asphalt stone ratio can be changed at any time as required. Therefore, the asphalt mixture produced is of high quality and can meet various construction requirements.
Tar Drum/Continuous Plant
Definition
The tar drum/continuous plant: is the plant that heating and drying of the cold aggregate and the mixing of mixture are continuously carried out in the same drum.
Working Principle
The flow meter and calibrated feed belt are used to measure liquid tar and cold aggregate to ensure that they enter the rotating drum in proportion. Then the aggregates are conveyed to rotary drum (function as dryer and mixer) where the aggregates is dried in first half section. Tar and filler in specified proportion are conveyed to the other half of rotary drum and then them are mixed with dried aggregates. Finally the finished tar mixture is discharged into the carrier vehicle or temporary storage silo.
Advantages
The tar drum plant can manufacture asphalt mix continuously, and it saves some time and has a high production efficiency. Therefore it is suitable for the job sites that need a large quantity of asphalt in a short time while the quality is not very high. Besides, the tar drum plant doesn’t include a mixing tower and hot aggregate elevator, which means it has a compact structure. So it has a low cost of maintenance and covers a small occupation area.
Mobile Tar Mixing Plant
Definition
The mobile tar mixing plant available in stock mainly has two types: the mobile tar drum mix plant and the mobile tar batch mix plant. A mobile tar mixing plant refers to the plant that the storage bin and mixing tank are equipped with tires for easy movement, and it is applicable to county-level asphalt highways and low grade expressways.
Fast transportation and installation
Low transportation and maintenance cost
Less foundation
Wide application range
Fully automatic control
Advantages
Mobile tar mixing plant featured by fast transportation and installation, low transportation and maintenance cost, less foundation, wide application range and fully automatic control.
First, modular design makes it convenient to and fast to transport from one site to another. Second, strong mobility save the extra expense of hiring a truck man and a flat-bed trailer. Meanwhile, the simple structure also decreases the maintenance cost. Third, it can pass through the narrow road and reach the mountainous regions because of their compact structure and enough flexibility. Last, the mobile tar mixing plant is featured by fully automatic control, and is equipped with the advanced control panel. Therefore it’s easy and smooth to operate even if a novice can also master it in a short time.
Stationary Tar Mixing Plant
More integrated structure and components
Higher quality asphalt mixture
Multiple dust collector
Environmental friendly
Definition
The stationary tar mixing plant: refers to the plant that the storage hopper and agitation tank need to be fixed on a foundation of cement, which is used for the municipal service roads and high grade highways.
Working Principle
The cold material in the cold bin is firstly transported to the dryer drum through the belt conveyor, secondly the drying aggregate is transported to the vibrating screen for screening by the hot material elevator, and the screened aggregate falls into each compartment of the hot material silo. Then aggregate and powder fall into its own weighing bucket through the relative chamber door with being measured by an electronic scale. Next they are put into the mixing tank; lastly all mixtures are fully mixed, asphalt mixture is formed and unloaded to the hopper car.
The feeding hopper car is unloaded into the mixed material storage bin through the track, and finally the mixed materials are placed on the transport vehicle through the unloading gate.
Advantages
The stationary tar mixing plant has more integrated structure and components compared with the mobile tar mixing plant, of course, it can also produce the higher quality of asphalt mixture. Also, the stationary tar mixing plant is equipped with multiple dust collectors or filters such as gravity dust collector, water duster and cyclone dust collector so that it is environmental friendly.
FAQ
How much does an asphalt cost?
$58,000 and above, the price of an asphalt is not fixed and changeless, and it is influenced by many factors such as type, production capacity, configuration, manufacturer, brand and so on. Take the configuration for example. For the same model tar mixing plant, its price can vary each other according to different configuration such as the specification of batch hopper, type of burner, screen size and number of vibrating screen, whether to plan a finished material bin, type of dust filter, etc,.
Generally, the price of the mobile tar mixing plant is higher than that of the stationary tar mixing plant for the same model, and the price of tar batch plant is higher than that of tar continuous plant for the same model. Therefore, the drum tar mixing plant is the cheapest asphalt mix plant among all types because it doesn’t have a mixing tower and vibrating screen.
Do you need a new tar mixing plant or a used one?
Absolutely a new tar mixing plant is the true choice. Why? A new tar mixing plant means that you can obtain many supports from the asphalt manufacturer such as the set-up, debugging and trial production of the equipment as well as free training. Its price is probable much higher, but you can hold and use it for a long time. For a used tar mixing plant, everything is uncertain except the price. Indeed, the price of a used one is much cheaper, but you have nothing knowledge of its real working condition. For example, If you are using it today, it may have problems tomorrow. Therefore the service life of the used tar mixing plant is doubtful.
Batch mix and drum mix asphalt plant, which one to choose?
Before deciding to choosing batch mix or drum mix asphalt plant, you should have some understanding of their characteristics. Based on the mentioned above, the batch mix tar mixing plant is featured by high grading accuracy, high finished material quality and real-time ratio adjustment while the drum mix tar mixing plant is featured by compact structure, high efficiency, continuous production and relatively lower price. Besides, you should select the suitable one according to your construction conditions and planned budget.
