Concrete mixing system

RMC is the short form of ‘ready-mix concrete’, one of the various types of concrete. An RMC batching plant is also known by different names – namely ready mixing concrete plant, ready mixed concrete plant, RMC plant, concrete batching plant, concrete mixing plant, etc. It is a combined equipment plant for producing various recipes of concrete products.

The main components of a ready mix concrete plant include:

Aggregate/powder feeder
Aggregate/powder conveyors
Main mixer
Measuring equipment
Additive and water pump
Weighing scale
Cement storage system
Water storage system

Generally, the RMC plant is located near the project site. If the plant is located far away from the project site, concrete truck mixers are used for transporting ready mixed concrete to the project site.

The most common types of RMC plant are:

How Much Does An RMC Plant Cost?

The price of RMC plant starts from as low as $5,000 to $500,000. However, considering a batching plant price as the whole price of that plant is not correct.

The total cost for a concrete plant depends on various factors such as…

  • Production capacity of the plant
  • Project location
  • Current cost of raw materials
  • Other expenses like labor (varies in different regions)
  • Estimated hours in operation

Some crucial costs you will need to account for are:

  • Cost of manpower (employee and operator wages)
  • Cost of insurance, land and building expenses
  • Cost of trucks/transportation
  • Raw material costs – sand, rock, cement, water, etc.

The specifics of your project are huge variables in the formula to determine the cost. We will work with you to come to an accurate projected final cost. Please feel free to contact us with your detailed requirements so that we can provide you with the best estimate on a customized RMC batching plant.

How To Reduce The RMC Plant Cost?

We all know that the present price of concrete is not very high. With more and more batching plant manufacturers entering the market, this virtually increases the competitiveness of the RMC market.

Reducing the cost of concrete produced in the batching plant is very important in every aspect to try to save cost. Some measured that can be adopted are:

  1. Perform routine maintenance work on your equipment, which will eventually save on high maintenance costs due to breakdown
  2. Avoid wastage of raw materials during the production process and consumption
  3. Recycle as many things possible, starting from the production of raw materials to the construction process for effective use
  4. Another step is to save on variable costs such as water and electricity

Though the cost of the equipment cannot be reduced much, these are some aspects of the savings that will eventually bring you surprises and help you save on running costs.

The first ready mixed concrete plant was established in 1934. Over the past 87 years, there has been significant growth in the manufacture of construction plants and the demand for concrete mixing plants.

Over the years, concrete mixing plants have evolved from the first basic concrete plant to multiple automatic batching plants.

Many prominent manufactures have emerged and have spent a lot on research and development of more advanced machinery designs, proficient producing technology, scientific managing methods, sophisticated servicing, etc.

With the industrial revolution and boom in the construction industry, there arose the need for faster construction technology. Today, the ready mixed concrete batching plant comes into a flourishing era.

Information on RMC Plant

RMC Plant Capacity

The capacity of an RMC batching plant is one of the most important character indexes that describe the RMC plant. The production capacity of the plant means the efficiency to produce concrete and is calculated based on the quantity of concrete produced per hour.

The production capacity of the batching plant is one of the biggest factors in determining the price of the batching plant. The ready-mix concrete plants are designed to suit various production scales.

Based on the production capacity index, the ready-mixed concrete plants manufactured by Luton are named HZS25, HZS35, YHZS60, etc.

Types of Ready Mix Concrete plant

There are many types of concrete batching plants. The classification standards for ready mix concrete batching plant depends on whether they can be moved, according to plant scale, or the producing forms.

Some of the types of RMC plants are:

1. Dry / Wet RMC Concrete Batching Plant

RMC batching plants can be divided into dry mix plants and wet mixing plants, depending on whether a central mixer is used.

Dry mix plant: In a dry concrete batching plant, all necessary ingredients, except water are combined. Water is then fed into the mixing tank and the mixing procedure is in progress when the truck is running on the way to the construction site.

Obviously, it is an effective and flexible method of producing concrete. The dry concrete plant does not have a mixer.

Wet mix plant: A wet stationary concrete mixing plant combines all the necessary ingredients including water for the production of concrete to the mixer.

The produced concrete is then loaded on the truck mixer to be transported to the worksite. The concrete produced can be assured of the accurate proportion, so the property of the products is better.

2. Mobile/ Stationary RMC batching plant

A Mobile ready mix concrete batching plant, also known as a portable concrete batching plant, is a very productive, reliable, and cost-effective piece of equipment to produce ready mixing concrete.

As the name suggests, mobile concrete batching plants are portable and designed for quick setup and maximum mobility is installed on towable chassis with wheels.

It has the advantage of being flexible and maneuverable, which allows the user to batch concrete at almost any location.

Portable RMC plants are the best choice for temporary site projects or even stationary locations where there is a limitation of equipment height or the required production rate is lower.

A Stationary ready mixing concrete plant is designed for producing high-quality concrete. The equipment is stable and steady and usually located needs at least a 1.5 meters-deep foundation under the ground. This is also known as a central ready concrete mixing plant and it suits the situation requiring large quantities of concrete.

Some of the advantages of a stationary batch plant are:

  • Strong production capacity
  • High efficiency
  • Stability working performance
  • High specification
  • Reliable and flexible
  • Easy to maintain and low failure rate

They are widely used in various large-scale projects such as roads, bridges, ports, tunnels, dams, and buildings.

3. Small RMC Batching Plant / Large RMC Batching Plant

Generally, small RMC batching plant are also known as mini concrete batching plants. They are usually set up near the construction site of the project.

Compared with large RMC batching plants, the concrete produced is special and targeted. Sometimes a small RMC plant can also supply concrete for several projects just as the large concrete mixing plant does.

The large RMC batching plant is commercially set up for producing and selling concrete, which is usually large scale and requires huge-quantity concrete production.

Due to its large production capacity, it is also known as a commercial concrete mixing station. Its products are more stable and reliable than that of the small concrete batch plants.

Working Process of an RMC Plant

The working process of an RMC batching plant is dependent on seven primary functions:

1. Control Value Setting

A control system is very critical for any advanced machine. It enables fast and accurate operations. Prior to running the plant, all the required aggregate proportions should be fed into the computer calculating process. This will help operate the equipment accurately and efficiently to achieve the preset demand.

2. Aggregate Feeding

The required raw materials have to be fed into the individual feeder hoppers. Ready mixing concrete batching plant process starts from feeding aggregates into hoppers.

3. Storing&Conveying

Storage and conveyance here refer to the storage of cement, fly ash, etc. These materials are stored in bulk quantity and need to be transferred by screw conveyors to the weighing hoppers.

4. Powder Feeding

Powders such as cement, fly ash, and additives are added for the binding of materials. These aggregates will be weighed individually depending on the set proportion in the control system.

Cement, water, and additives are transferred into the mixer unit after weighing them separately in the weighing hopper located above the main mixer unit. Cement is transferred to the weigh hopper by a screw conveyor.

5. Water Feeding

A specific quantity of water is a must for any ready mix concrete, which will help bind the cement evenly with the aggregates. Water is pumped up into the weigh hopper.

6. Mixing

After the aggregates are weighed, the mixture will be transited into the main mixer unit and mixed and batched in the mixing unit.

7. Discharging

After completing the specified time as set in the control unit, the processed concrete will be discharged into a transit mixer or a concrete pump.

All the above steps are performed systematically. Each step is carried out for a specific time frame. The time frame starting from the weighing of aggregates to the discharge of the ready-mix material is known as a batch time which is set into the computer beforehand.
