Concrete Transport Truck

Concrete transport truck is a common type of special construction vehicle. As an indispensable and important link in the entire construction process, it can quickly and accurately deliver the mixed concrete materials (dry or wet) to the construction sites with quality and quantity. Such an existence provides efficient and continuous material guarantee for various construction projects around the world, especially those without onsite concrete mixing conditions.

At present, various concrete mixing trucks for various concrete needs are available and users can choose the most suitable vehicle model according to their actual application needs.

Functions Of Concrete Transport Truck

The main functions of concrete mixer truck are concrete transporting and mixing. It can not only transport the viscous wet concrete mixture from mixing plant to construction site directly. But also can mix dry material mixture rated as preset proportion and water together during transporting. In this way, finished concrete mortar is also available as arrive at the site.

Regardless of the methods, special attention should be paid to the quality degradation of concrete during transportation, such as segregation. To avoid this issue, usually the finished concrete needs to be put into use within 1.5 hours after loading. That means before transportation, it is necessary to choose the route, distance and transportation speed of the vehicle.

Concrete transport truck often works together with other construction machinery on construction site, to boost the working speed of the project, including concrete trailer pump, concrete mixer pump, concrete placing boom, as well as self loading mixer truck, concrete mixer machine, etc.

Main Types Of Concrete Transport Truck

There are several common types of concrete mixer trucks:

  1. According to the structural form of the chassis, there are self-propelled and trailer type. Self propelled refers to a mixing tank truck that uses a regular truck chassis, while trailer type uses a dedicated trailer chassis.
  2. According to the transmission form of the mixing device, there are three types: mechanical transmission, full hydraulic transmission, and mechanical hydraulic transmission. At present, most of the methods used are fully hydraulic transmission.
  3. According to the driving form of the mixing drum, it can be divided into several types of driving and individual driving.
  4. According to the mixing capacity of the mixing tank truck, it is divided into small sizes (usually with a mixing capacity of 3m³ Below), medium (mixing capacity of 3m³- 8m ³), And large mixer trucks (usually with a mixing capacity of more than 8m³ ). Among them, the stirring capacity is 6m ³ Medium size cars are the most commonly used.

The Structure And Characteristics Of Concrete Transport Truck

The concrete mixing transport vehicle mainly consists of the chassis, power take-off device, hydraulic system, reducer, mixing drum, control mechanism, cleaning system, etc.

Loading And Unloading Hopper

The loading device of a mixing tank truck usually includes a feeding hopper and a feeding port. There is a pin shaft hinge device on the wall of the feeding hopper that can fix the bracket. The bottom of the feeding hopper is connected to the feeding guide pipe, which is tightly fitted to prevent concrete overflow during feeding. The feeding hopper can be flipped upwards around the hinge axis, exposing the mixing drum material port for easy cleaning of the mixing drum.

On the brackets on both sides of the discharge port, there are fixed discharge grooves. And the below is a movable discharge groove. It can adjust the tilt angle through multiple adjustment rods to meet the requirements of different discharge positions. The design of the discharge chute can allow the concrete to flow out smoothly and accurately control the flow direction and flow rate, ensuring NO spilling or splashing.

Mixing Drum

The mixing drum is the core equipment of the entire concrete mixer truck. Due to its shape resembling an olive or a snail, it is also known as a snail cart or olive cart.

The mixing drum is fixed on the chassis by a support device, and the central axis of the mixing drum is usually at an angle of 16 °~20 ° with the horizontal line of the frame.

There are mixing spiral blades inside the mixing drum. During the vehicle movement and mixing feeding process, the drum rotates along the direction of the spiral feeding to lift the material, which is then dropped by gravity. At the same time, it is driven by the spiral blades to flip and stir. When the mixing is completed and enters the unloading process, the mixing bucket will be driven in the opposite direction and rotate counterclockwise. The spiral blades will push the concrete mixture towards the bucket mouth until it is discharged from the discharge port.

Hydraulic System

The hydraulic system converts the mechanical energy of the engine into continuous and smooth hydraulic energy, which is then output into mechanical energy by the hydraulic motor, providing rotational power for the mixing drum.

Gearbox

The reducer reduces the output speed of the hydraulic motor to the required speed of the mixing drum.

The Chassis

The chassis of the vehicle is a heavy-duty truck chassis, equipped with 2 to 6 axles according to different load capacities. The load capacity of a vehicle is mainly determined by the mixing capacity of the mixing tank, with a common mixing tank capacity ranging from 4m3 To 18m3.

Operators extract the engine power through the switch of the take-off device. Then it is converted into hydraulic energy through the hydraulic variable pump. After that, the hydraulic motor drives the reducer to rotate the mixing drum. During the feeding and transportation process, the mixing drum is driven forward and rotates forward. When discharging, the drum is driven in reverse and rotates in the opposite direction.

Usage Precautions

When using a concrete mixer truck to transport concrete mixtures, it is important to pay attention to the following basic usage points.

When the transportation distance is less than 10 kilometers, the mixed concrete can be directly loaded into the mixing tank and transported to the use site by the mixing tank truck. During transportation, in order to prevent concrete from layering, segregation, or early setting, it is necessary to set the mixing drum to a low-speed rotation mode to ensure stable and good concrete quality upon arrival at the site.

When the transportation distance is greater than 10 kilometers, in order to reduce energy consumption and mechanical wear, and improve engineering efficiency, the dry mixture prepared according to the proportion requirements can be directly loaded into the mixing drum, and the water tank can be filled with water. When there is still a 15-20 minute drive from the pouring site, turn on the mixing function, add the predetermined amount of water, and mix the materials in the mixing drum. During transportation and mixing, the mixed concrete materials can be unloaded and used upon arrival at the construction site.
