Small Batch Concrete Plant

What Is A Small Batch Concrete Plant?

A small batch concrete plant is also referred to as a small/mini mixing concrete plant, a small/mini concrete batch plant, a small/mini cement batch plant, a small/mini rmc plant, a small/mini portable concrete batch plant, and more. It features a basic structure with limited capacity (below 60m3/h), a compact footprint, and a low investment.

While it features these minor characteristics, it plays an important function in on-site or offsite construction manufacturing. Contemporarily, more and more users seek a suitable small and portable concrete batching machine due to its modest capacity and excellent efficiency.

Unlike large concrete mixing plants and stationary concrete batching systems, they may be moved by any suitable vehicle and set up in a matter of hours. As a result, small concrete batching plants are more suited for construction projects. This is the case for short-term construction projects, a changeable construction site, and a lengthy construction line. It is also better suited for modest construction sites, including new rural and urban buildings, roads, bridges, and more.

Is Installing A Used Small Batch Concrete Plant A Good Investment?

Some users believe that small batch concrete plant parts are easy to use and that purchasing new equipment is not cost-effective. Hence, purchasing a used small rmc plant will help you save even more money.

This may not be entirely true. Purchase of a used mixing plant is inexpensive, the subsequent maintenance is difficult, and issues are more likely to emerge. The new small ready mixed concrete plant requires a somewhat slightly larger initial investment; however, maintenance is cheap, quality is assured, and product performance and quality are more reliable and simpler to regulate.

As a result, buyers are cautioned that if the acquired mixing plant will be utilized for an extended period, it is still suggested that a new piece of equipment be obtained. Buying used products, after all, may conceal a slew of hidden perils.

Features of Portable Small Batch Concrete Mixing Plant

Aggregate Batching Machine

An aggregate batching machine is a component of a Small Portable Concrete Batch Plant. LUTON’s small concrete plant family features the PLY series machine. This machine is an aggregate batching machine that has an electronic weighing system and can automatically achieve 2 to 4 types of aggregate in a batching process. They include sand, cement, or stone, at the same time. It also comes with a weighing pressure sensor and a computer. With this component, users can achieve precise weighing, fast batching operations, and automated adjustment.

Users can also choose varieties of options such as belt cumulative weighing, separate weighing, or cumulative hopper weighing.

Belt Conveyors and Hopper Conveyors

LUTON offers a small batch concrete plant with capacities ranging between 25m3/h and 35m3/h, 50m3/h, and 60m3/h. On these plant offers, there are belt conveyors or hopper conveyors installed. Hopper conveyors are usually called hopper lifters and are less expensive than belt conveyors. Also, hopper conveyors are more commonly used than belt conveyors since their structure is simpler and takes up less space. That is dependent on the small nature of small concrete batch plants. However, belt conveyors are equally popular inefficiency, with greater and stronger loading capacity than the hopper conveyor.

JS Series Mixing Machine

JS series concrete mixers are double horizontal shaft compulsory mixers that feature a mixing duration of the 60s-72s and a maximum aggregate size of 80/60mm or 100/80mm. As a result of these characteristics, LUTON’s small concrete batch plants are more efficient. These mixing machines are commonly used in precast concrete factories, bridges construction, waterworks construction, industrial and civil construction, highways, harbors, airports, and many more. They were popular because they could effectively mix varieties of mortars such as dry hard concrete, flow concrete, plastic concrete, and light aggregate concrete.

Cement Silo

Users can customize the bulk cement silos to the production output, footprint size, and environmental requirements. The cement silos feature cheap cost, a long service lifespan, and a small footprint. This is made possible due to the customized air pressure monitoring system, cement volume monitoring system, safety warning system, dust collecting system, and other features on the cement silos.

Screw Conveyor

Screw conveyors are utilized in concrete batching plants to transport cement to the mixing host. Screw conveyors typically exist in two diameters, including ∅219mm and ∅273mm. Their length may be customized to the specific installation conditions.

Weighing System

Small concrete batching systems are proficient in weighing water, cement, additive weighing, and other materials depending on the user’s needs. These weighing systems are managed and monitored by a plc and a control computer. Due to this, tiny concrete batch systems are now as precise as commercial stations and are gaining popularity among clients.

Electric Controls System

One of the most significant components of concrete batching equipment is the electric control system. This control system of a small-type concrete batching plant is fully automated, supported by a manual control panel and monitor, allowing for accurate, steady, and dependable control.

Dust-Collecting System

Luton Group offers users an effective dust collection system to reduce dust emissions and achieve an environmentally friendly situation. From our list of dust collection types,  two can be selected by our specialists based on the customer’s needs. The first type is a bag-type dust collection system, and the other is a water dust collection system.

The bag-type collection system uses a two-stage dust removal system. Here the first stage achieves gravity dust removal and the second stage involves the removal of bag dust.

In some cases, a multiple-stage dust removal system with three stages is advised. Here the first stage achieves gravity dust removal, the second stage achieves removal of whirlwind dust, and the third stage achieves water dust collection system.

Pneumatic System

The pneumatic system comprises different components such as a pneumatic valve, an air compressor, a pneumatic triplet, a gas tank, a solenoid valve, and an air cylinder. The air compressor produces compressed air, which is further purified and regulated via the pressure regulator and pneumatic triplex’s filter. Then a control signal is sent to pneumatic valves, which initiates subsequent regulation of the pneumatic valve in accordance with the instruction of the control signal. As a result, opening and shutting control of each component door are initiated.

How Does a Small Concrete Batch Plant Work?

As with other types of concrete batch plants, the procedure of a small batch concrete plant is easily divided into five stages: material feeding, material weighing, material conveying, material mixing, and discharge of materials.

1. The process of a concrete batch plant begins with the activation of the control system, which involves the formula number, concrete grade, concrete slump, and productivity.

2. Once the control system is activated, the plant will operate based on the control program. Raw materials, such as water, aggregates, cement, additives, and many more, are initially unloaded into hoppers independently for a brief period before being accurately weighed using a pressure sensor and a control computer.

3. Weighing is another most important process in a concrete batch factory. This is because it directly impacts the quality and precision of the finished product. It is fully automated and monitored by computer using the LUTON weighing system. At the same time, the real-time situation is relayed back to the control room. In the control room, the computer decides whether to continue moving or make adjustments subsequently.  All of this is done with one goal in mind: to guarantee that concrete products are accurately proportioned and of good quality.

4. When sensors in an aggregate weighing system identify the correct weighing value, an instruction is sent to close the door under the weighing hopper. This indicates that weighing is complete while awaiting the next weighing task.

Weighed materials are conveyed in a variety of methods throughout the conveying process:

  • Aggregates are transported via a hopper elevator or a belt conveyor.
  • Cement is transported via a screw conveyor.
  • A pump transports water and additive.

5. These ingredients are put into the mixer host prior to the second aggregate weighing operation. Aggregates will be placed into the weighing hopper beside the mixer machine to reduce conveying loss and ensure accurate product formula. Following that comes the most important part of the entire process: material mixing.

6. Various materials are fully and uniformly mixed by the JS series twin horizontal shafts compulsory mixer throughout the mixing duration of the 60s and 72s. Aggregates are completely wrapped into the mortar in the mixing drum by strong shafts while the mixing blades line up on the shafts consistently.

7. When the setting time is up, the concrete mixer’s loading door opens, releasing the concrete onto concrete mixing trucks.

8. This entire procedure is now complete while the next round of concrete mixing is next in line.
