How Do Concrete Hydraulic Pumps Work?

As we all know, the main work content of hydraulic concrete pump is to use the high pressure energy of hydraulic oil to continuously pump concrete through the pipeline to the construction site. So, how exactly does the concrete hydraulic pump work?

In the whole system, the actions of the main executive components are all driven by each hydraulic system, and the electronic control system is fully responsible for each component act time and method through the PLC to trigger a variety of control signals. And finally control the specific execution of the hydraulic system.

As the concrete is discharged into the hopper, with the impetus of high pressure oil, the hydraulic motor drives the S valve to swing left and right and the S valve alternately connects with the output ports of the two  concrete cylinders.

The two concrete cylinders are separately connected to the two cylinders of the main oil pump through the water tank.

The hydraulic piston rods are alternately pushed and pulled in the two main cylinders through high pressure oil, thus driving the piston heads connected with the rods to constantly alternately inhale and extrude concrete in the two concrete cylinders.

So as to realize the continuous pumping of concrete.

In this way, the independent main pump hydraulic oil circuit system and S valve hydraulic oil circuit system make the whole system more concise, higher reliable, and easier to troubleshoot.

Concrete Pump Hydraulic System 

In common machinery, there are several types of hydraulic pumps. Usually can be classified into two categories: gear pump and axial piston pump. The latter is most common in concrete pumps because of its ability to deliver large amount of hydraulic fluid flow under pressure.

There is a key point in the perfect coordination of this process, that is the control and coordination of hydraulic oil road, which is completed by the executive program of the electronic control system.

Among them, the main hydraulic cylinder of concrete pump is responsible for the control of concrete movement direction in the conveying cylinder.

The rod cavity or rod-less cavity of the main hydraulic cylinder on the both sides are usually connected in series. Therefore, only by controlling the oil intake from the main hydraulic cylinder on the left or the main hydraulic cylinder on the right, the left or right movement control can be realized.

And this method can effectively ensure that when the left side of the main hydraulic cylinder moves forward, the right side of the main hydraulic cylinder can automatically move back by the action of the hydraulic oil out of the left side of the main hydraulic cylinder, and vice versa.

The swing valve hydraulic cylinder is responsible for the on-off control of the distribution valve and the conveying cylinder.

Through electromagnetic valve direction control of the main hydraulic cylinder and swing valve hydraulic cylinder, alternating back and forth movement of the pumping mechanism of hydraulic oil is finally fulfilled.

In this way, the concrete pump draws the concrete from the hopper, and then squeezes it into the S valve, which is at last sent to the construction site through the conveying pipe.

When the concrete pump is pumping, the S valve is always connected with the conveying cylinder in the forward motion state, in order to press the concrete in the corresponding concrete cylinder into the on-site conveying pipeline. That is the pumping process of concrete conveying from the hopper to the construction site.

On the contrary, the S valve is always connected with the backward movement of the conveying cylinder. So that the concrete in the conveying pipeline is sucked into the conveying cylinder in the backward movement. And press back the concrete to the hopper when the conveying cylinder moves forward. So as to realize the pumping process of concrete from the conveying pipe to the hopper.

Therefore, the essence of pumping control of small concrete pump is to control the alternating movement of each hydraulic cylinder, that is, pumping reversing control.
